Giving ND a lifeline last year showed things were "out of whack"
The ACC made a strategic mistake in offering a lifeline to ND last year. The crux of my argument is that the ACC did that under the delusion that such an offer would be reciprocated by a closer relationship and accelerate the full union of the two organizations.
In reality, the offer blew up in their face. ND avoided the consequences of independence and rewarded the ACC by 1) confirming their continuing independence and 2) siding with the SEC against the best interests of the ACC.
Moving forward the ACC must focus exclusively on its own survival with the knowledge that ND cannot be relied upon in any way, shape, or form. That does not mean that we "dump" ND. ND is with us and will likely stay with us for a long time. But all preferential treatment must end. The sooner the ACC starts treating ND the same way as VT, UVA, etc. the better.
